About Us
Everyone has their own unique set of thinking preferences. This explains why others can think and act so differently to us in similar circumstances. This tool is especially beneficial because it identifies how a person sees the world. Their thinking and behaviour in all areas of life can be explained through the lens of their profile. Whole Brain Thinking helps us understand how others think and gives us an insight into how to better manage relationships.
The Neethling Brain Instrument, known as the NBI Brain Profile, is a questionnaire that identifies your personal thinking preferences. The report that is generated by completing the questionnaire provides insight into and an understanding of the different ways we prefer to think, act, respond, communicate and interact with those around us. It measures the preferences an individual might have for performing certain tasks or mastering certain skills – it does not measure his/her abilities or skills.
Thinking preferences give an indication of how individuals:
- Prefer to do business
- Act toward other people
- Communicate
- Learn
- Teach / instruct
- Solve problems
- Make buying decisions
The profile breaks down how we use our brain into 4 quadrants and then narrows it down to 8 dimensions of thinking. This makes it a very specialized tool and the only one in the world that has been developed into 8 dimensions. We all activate all parts of the brain, however, we have preferences that affect how we think and see the world.
Wholebrain thinking and living means that we are not only aware of our own thinking preferences, but that we understand the thinking preferences of those around us. As Wholebrain individuals we are able to accommodate perspectives contributed from those who have thinking preferences that differ from our own. With practice, we can anticipate how individuals with different thinking preferences might view a situation or respond.
Research shows that we achieve our greatest successes when we focus on our thinking preference areas and build on our strengths. However, the world is a wholebrain arena and most careers also require that we develop a few skills that lie outside of our thinking preferences. Knowing where you will have to make a conscious effort to deliberately grow your skills can boost your performance. As such, the NBI report is not just an identification tool, but serves as a development instrument. Understanding your thinking preferences can also guide you to avoid career advancements that will require of you to function outside of your natural thinking preferences most of the time, stealing your passion and tapping your energy.
This tool helps to identify the preferences and therefore have increased tolerance for the team, while leveraging team strengths. It is an excellent opportunity for self-awareness and to share blind spots. As a manager, supervisor or colleague, a core skill is being able to adapt to the different people you work with. This tool provides an easy to remember and implement way of understanding how you approach people differently to get the best out of them.
How: Each participant is to undertake an online questionnaire which can be completed in the language of their choice. Time required: 25-30 minutes – the profile comes in two parts. There are NO RIGHT or WRONG answers and NO RIGHT or WRONG Profiles. This tool is based on thinking preferences and not personality types.
